Questions
The seven things everybody asks.
Do I need a tattoo machine to start?
No. Stages 00 to 05 cover equipment knowledge, the stencil printer, design, and stencil application. You only need a machine from stage 06 onward, and by then you will know exactly which one suits how you work.
Will this let me tattoo people?
No, and any product that claims otherwise is lying to you. NeedleDojo trains you on synthetic practice skin. Working on a person requires hands-on training, bloodborne pathogen certification, and the licences required where you live. Stage 11 covers what that process looks like in your region.
What if my printer is not on the supported list?
The Stencil Studio still exports a print-ready file at correct scale for any thermal printer, and the Stencil Printer Academy covers manual calibration. Send us your model and we will work through it with you.
How accurate is the AI scoring?
It is consistent, which matters more than being perfect. The coach compares your lines against the stencil path and against your own previous sessions, so relative movement is highly reliable even where an absolute score is arguable. It reads what the line reveals, not how deep you actually went.
Can I use my own designs?
Yes. Everything in the Stencil Studio works on your own artwork, photographs, and sketches. The Learn This Tattoo plan is built specifically around a piece you upload.
What happens to my work if I cancel?
You keep it. Export your full review history, scored images, and stencils at any time, on any plan, including the free one.
Is there a student or apprentice rate?
Yes. Apprentices with a shop reference and full-time students get the Artist plan at half price. Contact us with proof and we will apply it.
Safety and licensing

This is the part most AI tattoo products leave off the page, which is exactly why it belongs here.
NeedleDojo trains you on synthetic practice skin. It does not qualify you to tattoo another person.
- Tattooing a person requires hands-on training and, in nearly every jurisdiction, a licence, a bloodborne pathogen certificate, and an inspected premises.
- Stage 11 teaches hygiene, sharps handling, cross-contamination control, and how to find the specific requirements where you live. It is education, not authorisation.
- We will always recommend a supervised apprenticeship for the transition to human skin. Software cannot supervise you.
- The coach scores practice work. It has never been trained to assess healed work, medical outcomes, or anything to do with client safety.
